Glaucoma drops side effects

Submitted by mazjan on Mon, 08/27/2012 - 9:03am

I have used Lumigan for three months now and it is still irritatating and the whites of my eyes are always red. I also have more glare as I feel the drops leave an oil coat on and it distorts my vision. Also, I can't sleep as well and therefore can't focus doing work. My eyelids feel heavy and tired and I seem to want to nap. I also started using combigan for two months now.

PS this is my first blog.

Azarga

Submitted by travelhawthorne on Wed, 12/21/2011 - 2:39pm

I just started Azarga 2 weeks ago, and I can hardly stand it.  My eyelids are red and puffy, and by the end of the day I want to scratch my eyeballs out they itch so much.  I read one post in which someone said the symptoms disappeared after a month.  I'm not sure I can stand it that long.  My doctor doesn't seem too concerned.  I'm not sure I can live like this.  Any advice?

BAK: Boon or Bane?

Preservatives found in pharmaceutical products are a group of chemical substances added in multidose solutions to primarily reduce the risk of microbial contamination. Benzalkonium chloride, Polyquad, SofZia, and Purite are the common preservatives especially used in anti glaucoma agents. While SofZia and Purite are new preservatives that have been called vanishing preservatives, because they convert to nontoxic substances once in the eye, Benzalkonium chloride, on the other hand is the most common ophthalmic preservative.

Cataract as related to glaucoma? Recommendation for surgery? Alternatives?

Submitted by BobDobbs on Fri, 02/11/2011 - 2:01pm

Hi.  Seemingly as soon as I started using glaucoma eyedrops, I started getting cataract in my right eye.  Then the left eye, and both are very bad now.  I am about to break down and get lens-replacement surgery I guess, as I know if no alternative at this point.

Possibly NAC eyedrops (Can-C) would have worked if I started them early enough, but I didn't.

Glaucoma eye drops and depression

Submitted by 3287nest on Wed, 02/03/2010 - 8:46am

I am using eyedrops: timolol maleate and pilocarpine.  After a week on both, I'm feeling uncharacteristically  low and negative.  Both list depression as side effects.  I'm wondering what experience others have had re: eyedrops and depression.   Know any remedies?  I hope, I'll be off these two in a couple of weeks!  They also blur my vision.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 10/22/2009 - 6:13pm

I had a trabecelectomy 3 months ago, 3 stitches were lasered afterwards and
my pressure was low, but not too low..since i lost considerable vision in
that eye, my doctor was satisfied..However, the pressure has gone too low and
he is trying a pressure patch, otherwise, suggests surgery to add another
stitch.. Any input??or similar experiences?? I really dont want another
surgery..
