We Have Chosen Glaucoma

Submitted by dave on Thu, 09/13/2007 - 11:03am

For all of us with glaucoma or any vision-related health issue (or any health issue at all, for that matter), we can benefit by coming to understand that we have created that health issue through our own past chronic thought patterns and our own dominant emotional patterns.

At some level, we have chosen to have the experience of disease. We have chosen it because we wanted that experience and we probably wanted the experience in order that we might have greater appreciation for the opposite experience.

Does my treatment is on Right path? Does eye drops will work for me?

Submitted by pmpvip on Fri, 08/17/2007 - 8:02am

Hi

I visited Opthalmologist for Monitoring progress in my Gluacoma yesterday and this visit get me very worried. I am currently 41 yrs of age.

I was diagnoised with Glaucoma in June 2007 in both eyes. My glucoma is in very advance stage. In my right eye has considerable damage even in central vision as per Perymetry field test. Though as of now I dont feel any loss of vision in eyes. But all of the eye doctors (opthalmologist) that I have visited indicate advance stage of Glaucoma.

How to help the ophtalmologist find the right medication.

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Glaucoma around 1991, after I got a laser treatment for retinal detachment to both eyes.  That was two years after I was treated for retinal detachment to the right eye in 1989; the surgeon then injected a bubble of gas in my right eye to press the retina on the back of the eye and a week later he cauterized using liquid nitrogen.

Timing of Eye drops: how precise that should be?

Submitted by pmpvip on Tue, 08/14/2007 - 8:46am

Hi

I was dignoised with glaucoma two month back.

Currently I use Timolet (one Drop in each eye) at around 7.00AM and 7.00 PM. and Lumigen at night around 9.00 PM ( One drop in each eye)

(1) How precisely we should follow this timing of eye drops. Altering time by 30 min or so only for two days in week  (so that it fit to work schedule) should be OK or not?

Thanks for answering my question in length and depth.

Since there is no sure cure for recovering from damage of Optic nerve caused by glaucoma in our ALOPATHIC treatments, I was looking for other possible treatments in Conjuction with Alopathic for my self.

Lasik and Glaucoma

Submitted by dave on Tue, 08/07/2007 - 11:26am

A new theory (still being researched and discussed) is that glaucoma causes a remodeling of the cornea that results in lower corneal hysteresis (CH). However, regardless of the causative mechanism, low  corneal hysteresis has been correlated with glaucoma progression in early research. I believe the research on that point is substantial enough to act on the information right now, even though more research is warranted.

Is cup size change from .6 mm to .8 mm in a year rapid deterioration?

Submitted by villandra on Sun, 08/05/2007 - 10:30pm

Question; if the cup of my optic nerve has expanded from .6 mm to .8 mm in a year, is this rapid deterioration, or slight deterioration?   Intuitively it seems like alot of deterioration, but I don't really know how much meaning it has.   However, a year ago it was considered on the borderline of normal at .6 mm.   After doing a nerve scan the glaucoma specialist thought at the time that it looked most like normal variation.

My Inbox - Breathing and Eye Pressure

Submitted by dave on Sun, 08/05/2007 - 12:30pm

Below is part of a very interesting email a reader sent me a little while ago. I asked for his permission to share some of it here. I hope this person eventually finds time to start a blog on FitEyes.com or share more of his experiences. I could learn a lot from him, and I suspect many other people would like to hear more about his experiences with intraocular pressure.

What Can We Do To Prevent Further Glaucomatous Damage To Our Eyes?

Submitted by dave on Sat, 08/04/2007 - 3:25pm

Paresh posted an excellent message about dealing with glaucoma in the FitEyes.com forums. He asked seven great questions. I decided to do my best to respond to each question. I'm going to take them one at a time. Paresh's first question was , "what we can do in daily life to limit further damage to eyes?" This blog post is my first response.

Keeler Pulsair tonometer differences

Submitted by vis01 on Sat, 08/04/2007 - 2:27pm

Dave, hi again,

I would like to ask you another question about the tonometers. This time about the Keeler Pulsair non-contact series. There are different models, some of them are quite old, for example: Keeler Pulsair 2000, Keller Pulsair 3000, Keller Pulsair EasyEye. I am interested to understand the differences between those. It is natural to expect the later models to be more accurate. Is it true? And what about their compliance with the self-tonometry? Are there models which are not appropriate for self-tonometry, less-convenient, etc.?

Thank you in advance.
