Homeopathy For Glaucoma

Submitted by dave on Wed, 03/07/2007 - 12:14pm

One of my [update: former] ophthalmologists is a homeopath. He initially prescribed homeopathic phosphorus for my glaucoma. Unfortunately, that had side effects, so he switch me to homeopathic mercurius aceticus.

I know of one other ophthalmologist who is a homeopath. In fact, he claims to be "the world's leading Homeopathic Ophthalmologist who devotes his practice to traditional and alternative therapies for the treatment of eye disease." His name is Dr. Kondrot. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, so I suspect he has good training. He has two best selling books, Healing the Eye the Natural Way and Microcurrent Stimulation: Miracle Eye Cure. I haven't read his books or spoken to Dr. Kondrot yet.

Recently, I also saw a website that advertises the following homeopathic formula with strong claims and a money back guarantee. However, the price for the product is about ten times higher than what it should be, so I will not be trying it. I am posting the formula here. If anyone has personal experience with this product, please let me know. I would think any homeopathic pharmacy could make it as a more reasonable cost.

Composition:

Ingredient Name Dilution
Aurum met 1M+d150
Corpus Vitreum D4+40C
Cortisone D200+200C
Gelsemium D200+200C

2010 UPDATE: After trying homeopathic treatments (which have helped me with various conditions in the past), I concluded that there is no currently available homeopathic formula that will reduce intraocular pressure. Likewise, I have not found any herbs that will reduce IOP either (other than jaborandi, which probably has worse side effects than pilocarpine). So what does work? The general answer is given here: http://fiteyes.com/stress-and-eye-pressure-solving-the-equation. And in my own case, what worked was a combination of self-tonometry, Serene Impulse and psychological skills similar to those described by Byron Katie and others. (Disclaimer: none of those things are offered as treatments for elevated IOP.)
