Glaucoma surgery

Submitted by dodieha on Wed, 12/28/2011 - 11:07am

 Hi Everyone,

This is my first post. I am a 72 year old woman with advanced glaucoma. I was diagnosed when i was in my thirties. I was sickly all my life with undiagnosed hypothyroidism, endotoxemia, hypoglycemia along with severe fatigue and too many symptoms to list. For many years I did not take the glaucoma drops regularly as they gave me severe headaches, eye pain and migraines.

I also have congenital cataracts.

I am legally blind and am facing some decisions.

I am now taking Combigan and Lumigan and my pressures have dropped from 45 down to 10-12 as taken on our home tonometer. But i think that i am facing recommendations for glaucoma surgery expecially if they want to remove the cataracts. Two doctors said they are not sure if this would help with my cloudy vision.

I would like to hear from anyone who has had experience with laser surgery or glaucoma surgery. These methods do not sound like they are not without severe side effects.

Thanks so much for your input.

Dodie
