Glaucoma Educational Art Project

Submitted by wesleyray on Tue, 06/26/2012 - 7:31pm

At 57, 7 years after discovering I have Glaucoma I am considering Glaucoma filtration surgery as I'm concerned with the effects the Azopt and Lumigan drops have on my system. I have always maintained a healthy diet (no red meat in 35 years). For the past 7 years I have had acupuncture treatments weekly ( my acupuncturist has successfully treated her father, who has Glaucoma,  keeping his pressure down without drops or surgery). My pressures have been around 13-15 (tested by my Ophthalmologist only).

I am an Fine Art Photographer and Digital Media Professor as such my last large art project was titled "Missing Pixels" aimed at informing those who do not wear glasses, in hopes they will have their pressure checked more often then I did. I had no eye exams between the ages of 20-50. Currently I am missing 15 pixels in my right eye with many more nearly gone. My left eye is not as extreme.
