Something fishy? Counterfeit foods enter the U.S. market

Some of your favorite foods may be fakes.

Foods masquerading as something else - a more nutritious something else - have been big news in the past two years. Chinese food companies in particular have been blamed for making deadly alterations to dairy, baby and pet foods by adding melamine. The chemical makes it appear that the food or beverage has the required level of protein.

Light Exposure Damages Supermarket Vegetables - Do Not Eat Green-tinted Potatoes

According to nutritionist Paavo Airola, we should not eat potatoes that have any green tint and he mentioned a toxin called solanine (a nerve toxin) as the reason why. Potatoes often develop this green tint after exposure to light in the supermarket, but farming and harvesting practices play a role as well.

Healthy Pasta Recipe

Here is another healthy recipe featuring foods that health the eyes. This is a pasta dish with healthy vegetables in lieu of tomato sauce. (You can actually add some tomato sauce to it if you wish and the taste is good. I prefer it without tomatoes myself.)

BACKGROUND: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial
is the first study reported outside China that has examined the effects of
the orally consumed goji berry, Lycium barbarum, as a standardized juice
(GoChi; FreeLife International LLC, Phoenix, AZ) to healthy adults for 14
days.
