Saffron: Golden Secret of Clearer Sight

Submitted by dave on Wed, 05/20/2009 - 7:56pm

The Ayurvedic herb saffron may hold one of the keys to preventing the loss of sight in old age – and may even help to improve vision in people suffering certain blinding eye diseases.

Research by Professor Silvia Bisti of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Vision Science (The Vision Centre) and University of L’Aquila, Italy, has established that saffron has remarkable effects on the genes which regulate the performance of the eye’s key vision cells.

LASIK and C3R operations

Hi, I am Sneha, originally from India and now residing in the US. I was diagnosed with short-sight when I was 14 years of age. I have been wearing soft contact lenses since then. When I turned 23, I got both my eyes LASIK operated in India from a popular eye hospital. I had no problem with my eyes for almost a year. But later on I faced slight eye irritation, redness and sometimes double vision when I sit in front of the computer or when I go outdoors. I am a software engineer by profession which ineveitably requires me to work with the computer for long hours.

I just read a very informative report on Taran's blog about his visual field and visual accuity improvements. Taran posted three visual field test results in this blog post. I highly recommend everyone take a look at Taran's results. Here's the link to his blog post, "Octopus Visual Field Scans Before, During and After Micro-Acupuncture & Diet Discussion". It is a great post.

Healthy Pasta Recipe

Submitted by dave on Sat, 09/06/2008 - 3:50pm

Here is another healthy recipe featuring foods that health the eyes. This is a pasta dish with healthy vegetables in lieu of tomato sauce. (You can actually add some tomato sauce to it if you wish and the taste is good. I prefer it without tomatoes myself.)

Vegetables (all organic):
